Los Angeles Chargers: Staff predictions vs. Green Bay Packers
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Chargers host the Green Bay Packers in Week 9 in another “home” game that is going to be packed with opposing fans.
The Los Angeles Chargers never really have any home games, that has been a running joke since the team moved to LA and lost a lot of its fanbase. However, it has never been worse than when the team hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football.
The stadium was 90 percent Steeler fans and that is likely going to be the case again this Sunday in Week 9. Although instead of black and yellow and terrible towels it is going to be green and yellow and cheeseheads.
The Los Angeles Chargers host the Green Bay Packers a week after a lucky win over the Chicago Bears and cannot afford to lose. The Packers are tough competition but if the Chargers want any chance of an improbable playoff run then they cannot lose many more games.
This is about as much of a must-win as a team can have in Week 9. Here is how the LA Sports Hub staff sees it going down.
Hil Lopez (8-8): 38-34, Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers play the Packers after winning last week against Chicago 17-16. They will play a team that may have Davante Adams back, who has been sidelined since last playing the Eagles at home in the Packers only loss.
The Chargers look to stretch their winning streak to two games as they try to stay in contention for a wild card birth and a possible division title.
In this possible high scoring and hard-fought game, I see the Chargers pulling off the upset as they try to stay alive in the playoff race.
The Chargers have enough weapons via the air to overcome the Packers who have the worst passing defense over the last 4 weeks.
Redan Lopez (8-8): 40-20, Green Bay Packers
The Packers are coming into the Chargers arena, but it’s fair to say that the Packers are the home favorite.
With the offense firing on all cylinders and the Packers getting healthy, this game is going to be a blowout. Wide Receiver Davante Adams is coming back after turf toe and fellow receivers Geronimo Allison and Marques Valdez-Scantling will all be ready to continue to run away and create some more separation in the NFC North.
Meanwhile, the Chargers barely slipped by an offensively challenged Chicago team when the Bears missed their last-minute field goal. The Chargers finally won a close one, but for their season it may be too little too late.
The Chargers do not stand a chance and will not be able to stop the Packers.
Jason Reed (8-8): 24-17, Green Bay Packers
I am a Charger fan that is hopeful that my team can get the job done but I actually have the Packers in a parlay in Las Vegas right now so that shows what I think will happen in this game.
The Chargers are a team that continually stabs itself in the foot and the team had no business winning that game in Chicago last week. Aaron Rodgers is a quarterback that will make you pay for making dumb mistakes and that will be the case in this game.
The Packers’ solid defense will give Philip Rivers fits all game and the Packers will jump out to an early lead. Just like the Steelers game (which had this exact score), the Chargers will try and claw back into it and will come up one touchdown short.
