2. New York Yankees

The team that Gerrit Cole and the Astros eliminated in the American League Championship Series very well could be the team that he ends up signing with this winter. If the decision comes down solely to who is willing to pay the most then Cole will likely be a Yankee.

The Yankees are infamous for their big-spending ways and are absolutely going to be players in the Cole sweepstakes. While the team has solid starting pitchers, such as Masahiro Tanaka and James Paxton, the Yankees are still missing that solid ace arm that Cole brings.

Unlike the Angels, the Yankees do not have to do any convincing in whether or not they are going to be a winning team in the immediate future. The Yankees have made the postseason the last three years and have a core that is not going to go away.

They have young talent, experienced talent and surprise talent that stood out this year when the team was plagued with injuries. They have one of the scariest bullpens in the league and are going to be a title contender for years to come.

It might come down to whether or not the Dodgers can offer more money. If the offers are equal I would imagine he favors being closer to home, but you never know with these things.
