1. There is now an obvious place for him on the team

While the Los Angeles Lakers would absolutely make space for Andre Iguodala if that is what the team needed to do, previously, it did not seem like Iguodala would fit in as smoothly on the Lakers as he would the Clippers.

The Lakers are deep at forward with LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Kyle Kuzma all splitting time as the primary forwards.

However, in the first five games of the year, it is clear that the Lakers need that two/three player to come off the bench as well as play with the first unit. That guy is supposed to be Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who has been brutally bad this year.

If Caldwell-Pope was thriving then you could make the case that the Lakers don’t even need Iguodala. However, Caldwell-Pope has opened a new door with how bad he has played this season.

The Lakers could absolutely use the size off the bench as well as the team is small in that regard in the second unit. Iguodala helps fix that while also bringing the needed experience for the gig.
