Los Angeles Rams: Case for and against making the playoffs
By Redan Lopez
With the Los Angeles Rams coming off their bye week, we examine how it may or may not be possible for the club to make the playoffs this season.
The 2019 season has become quite the contrast for the Los Angeles Rams compared to the 2018 season. Last year, the Rams blew by their divisional rivals and the rest of the NFC, racing out to a 13-3 record en route to an NFC West Division Title.
But this season has been full of adversity, to say the least. The Rams suffered their first three-game losing streak in Weeks 4-6, have had instability at the running back position through injury, and have had to rely heavily on Jared Goff recently to will them through games.
The lack of offensive balance has hurt the Rams as they do not appear to be as offensively dynamic as in seasons past. In other words, it seems that the opposition has figured them out and how head coach Sean McVay works.
Todd Gurley also has not looked as effective as we last year early on. His knee problems hurt the team’s productivity offensively, with the club having to rely on backups Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson Jr. often to establish a run game.
As of now, the Rams currently sit in 3rd in the NFC West at 5-3, one and a half games behind the Seattle Seahawks and three behind the undefeated San Francisco 49ers.
With the first half of the season, its a toss-up whether the Rams can make a run to the playoffs. The Rams are battling with adversity more than ever on the field, but can they overcome it?
