The Los Angeles Dodgers don’t need to add much this offseason but could bolster the right side of the plate via trade.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are not losing much this offseason. There is only one significant free agent, Hyun-Jin Ryu, with three veterans also hitting free agency, David Freese, Rich Hill and Russell Martin.

Freese already announced his retirement from the league so the Dodgers will absolutely be without that. The fate of Hill and Martin is still undecided, although it would not be surprising to see the Dodgers at least bring Martin back on a one-year deal.

With that being said, the Dodgers do not really need to add much externally this offseason. While the front office will be looking to improve, the Dodgers could make zero moves and still be the World Series favorites in the National League.

However, there are two very specific things that the Dodgers could add this offseason. Jorge Castillo of the LA Times hit it on the head perfectly in his column, arguing that the Dodgers should look to add pitching and right-handed power this offseason.

The Dodgers’ best right-handed hitter in 2019 was Justin Turner, who slugged 27 home runs and hit .290. Four of the top five Dodgers in terms of home runs were left-handed and the only other right-handed batter to hit .290 or better was David Freese, who did so in 162 at-bats.

Anthony Rendon and Josh Donaldson are the big fish in the pond at third base but with the contracts that both will receive in the offseason, the Dodgers may lean towards a trade.

Here are three right-handed power bats worth trading for this winter, in order of the impact of the bat.
