Los Angeles Dodgers: Why Gavin Lux could be traded this winter
By Jason Reed
Gavin Lux quickly shot up and became the Los Angeles Dodgers’ top prospect in 2019 and is now a potential trade chip for the team this winter.
Gavin Lux started the year as one of the top prospects in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, but not many people expected the kind of meteoric rise that Lux went through in 2019.
Lux hit the cover off the ball in the minor leagues this season en route to being named Minor League Baseball Player of the Year. Lux hit .313 split across AA and AAA with 26 home runs, 76 RBIs and a 1.028 OPS.
Lux was on a 150-game pace of 34 home runs and 100 RBIs. There was a stretch when he was first promoted to AAA Oklahoma City where Lux didn’t just look like the best hitter in the minors, he looked like the best hitter on the planet.
He did not have as electric of a debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers but played well enough in his month of play to earn a postseason roster spot, where he was not great outside of his home run in his first postseason at-bat.
Lux appears to be an integral part of the future, especially with how great the Dodgers have been with homegrown players and how the team never trades the elite ones.
However, this offseason is different in many ways, this being one of them. You could actually make sense of the Dodgers trading Lux and can actually go in a very exciting direction by doing so.
Personally, I am a huge fan of Lux from back in his days with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. However, if the right opportunity is present, it would not be surprising to see the Los Angeles Dodgers trade the young middle infielder. Here is why.
