Los Angeles Rams: Staff predictions vs. Chicago Bears
By Jason Reed
It feels like the Los Angeles Rams’ season is spiraling out of control and the team desperately needs to get back in the win column against the Chicago Bears.
The Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears are in very similar situations heading into their Week 11 matchup. Both teams were premier playoff teams from last season that have struggled mightily thus far in 2019, both of which having issues with their starting quarterback.
The Bears’ starting quarterback situation is a bit more extreme than the Rams, as Jared Goff is better than Mitchell Trubisky, but the Bears didn’t already commit to an expensive five-year extension with Trubisky.
The Rams did and now they may regret it.
Now, it is important that we do not overreact. If the Rams would have won last week then this would not be the narrative. However, after seemingly selling off all of their early-round draft picks, the Rams are in a dangerous situation now and moving forward, especially if the run game cannot get going, as has been the problem.
This is a must-win for the Rams if they want any chance at making the playoffs this season. Here is how the LA Sports Hub staff sees it going down.
Jamaal Artis (9-4): 17-7, Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are on the precipice of a lost season and now face a Chicago Bears team in the same spot.
The terrible offensive line play that plagued the Rams in last week’s loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers won’t get any better against the Bears defense.
Fortunately for the Rams, the Bears offense is just plain bad and the Rams defense is starting to get better. This game comes down to who can be less mediocre for one week. With this game at home expect a slight edge to go to the Rams and they win this game.
Hil Lopez (7-10): 23-17, Los Angeles Rams
The Rams play the Bears this week coming off a terrible game. Jared Goff had multiple turnovers and they lost in Pittsburgh last week. Cooper Kupp was shut out and they failed to run the ball even though they were only behind by single digits for most of the game.
The Rams o-line has been terrible, and Chicago will look to feast upfront on Goff.
Chicago will look to come and get their second consecutive win but their offense has been pretty bad too.
Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has taken a step back this year and the Rams will look to pressure him into mistakes. This will come down to who will make the least mistakes and that will be the Rams who have more offensive weapons and the better players.
Jason Reed (9-10): 23-20, Chicago Bears
Yes, the Chicago Bears have an awful quarterback that struggles to move the ball and should not give me any reason to pick them in this game. However, they still have a scary defense that is coming up against a shoddy offensive line that is bound to get abused.
Jared Goff, in prime time against a good defense? If you look up the recipe for disaster in the football cookbook, that will be the first recipe listed.4
I just cannot get behind Goff and this offense. Even against the Bears, I am going to go with the other team until this offense proves me wrong.
