Trade #2:

D.J. Peters is the common denominator in this trade as the Cleveland Indians likely would be asking for a young, team-controlled outfielder and Peters is the perfect mix of bieng valuable but also being expendable by the Dodgers.

As for the rest of the pieces, this takes a difference approach as this would keep Joc Pederson on the team to maintain the outfield depth that the Dodgers seemingly always have but would also open up a spot in the starting rotation.

Kenta Maeda is absolutely someone who is on the trading block this season as he is unhappy with his role as a reliever with the team (based on his incentives), leading to both parties discussing the possibility of a trade.

Maeda would be a good piece to include as it would give the Indians a starting pitcher in return that is locked down for more years and does not cost all that much, especially because of his incentive-based contract. If he is not that great then the Indians don’t have to pay him more than $3 million.

This deal also includes Edwin Rios, a promising young corner infielder who simply does not fit on the Dodgers’ roster. He can become a near-everyday third baseman for the Indians, moving Jose Ramirez to second base to fill that hole.

Finally, because there is no top-10 prospect such as Gonsolin, the Dodgers would also package John Rooney in the deal. Rooney has shown promising signs at the lowest level of the farm system and is ranked 30th in the Dodgers’ system on MLB Pipeline.
