1. Lakers win NBA title beat Celtics in 7
The Los Angeles Lakers started the decade by winning the second of back to back NBA titles. They did this by doing something they had never done they beat the Boston Celtics in a Game Seven. On June 17, 2010 in a ragged low scoring game the Lakers beat the Celtics at home in the Staples Center 83-79.
Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant had a bad shooting night going 6-24 but he made up for it by grabbing 15 rebounds and scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter to help the Lakers close out the series.
The biggest shot of the game was hit by enigmatic Ron Artest who hit a three-point shot with a minute left in the game to give the Lakers a six-point lead they would never relinquish. Artest would score 20 points in the game his highest output for the series.
It would be the last title for Bryant and Derek Fisher giving them both five for their careers. It would also be the 11th title for coach Phil Jackson the most of any coach across the four major sports in North America.
It would also be the last and 10th title for owner Jerry Buss the highest of any owner in sports. It proved to be the highwater mark of the decade for Lakers, they have not been to an NBA Finals since.
