4. Dodgers win the pennant!

Finally, after 29 years the Los Angeles Dodgers won a National League Pennant and returned to the World Series. The Dodgers lost four National League Championship Series (NLCS) in 2008, 2009, 2013, and 2016 before finally ending their World Series drought against the defending World Series Champions the Chicago Cubs in the 2017 NLCS.

The Dodgers made quick work of the Cubs winning the series in five games and celebrating the clincher at historic Wrigley Field in Chicago. The pennant was a reward for the great Dodgers season in which they won 104 more than any other Dodgers team since moving to Los Angeles.

The series was highlighted by a Game Two walk-off home run by Dodgers third basemen Justin Turner, it was the first Dodgers walk-off by a home run in a playoff game since Kirk Gibson‘s in the 1988 World Series.

Game Five was a rout in favor of the Dodgers as they won 11-1 thanks mostly to the hitting of Enrique Hernandez. In the third inning Hernandez became the fourth Dodgers player with a postseason grand slam, he would hit three more home runs in the game and drive in an NLCS record seven runs.
