2. Wade Miley

Wade Miley is not one of the other three players alongside Teheran that has started 30 games in all seven seasons since 2013 but he is not that far behind as he has started 30 or more games in six of the seven seasons, making him only one of eight players to have six or more such years.

The only year in which Miley did not reach the 30 games started mark was 2018, where he started just 16 games with the Milwaukee Brewers and threw only 80 and two-thirds innings. Aside from that, Miley has been consistent throughout his entire career.

The one criticism of Miley in recent years is that he has not been used to go as deep in ball games as he would early in his career. Miley had at least 190 innings pitched every season from 2012 through 2015.

Since then, Miley has not thrown more than 170 innings in a season, with the reasonable expectation being anywhere from 150 to 170 in a season.

That is not a massive concern, however, as it would still be a win if the Angels can get 30 starts out of Miley and have him average 5-6 innings per start. That is all you really need out of a middle-of-the-rotation guy and the potential for him having a great season is higher than Teheran.

Miley finished last season with a 3.98 ERA and was even better than that for most of the year. He had a 3.06 ERA heading into the month of September, where he struggled a bit to raise the ERA to nearly four.

The only thing that could hold the Angels back from signing Miley is the cost, as there may be a team out there that is willing to pay far more than his market value. However, if there is no over-eager competition then the Angels should be able to write a check with Wade Miley’s name on it.
