2. Anthony Rendon: The Dodgers have a full infield

This is something that is either getting overlooked or simply ignored unless the Dodgers have some master plan to also pull off a blockbuster trade that includes Gavin Lux for Mookie Betts.

In fact, if a trade broke for Betts tomorrow and it included either Seager or Lux then the chances of the Dodgers getting Rendon, or any third baseman for that matter, would shoot through the roof.

Right now, the Dodgers already have four infielders, all of which are talented in their own regard and cannot simply be kicked to the bench. Justin Turner is not going anywhere, Max Muncy has statistically been the best second baseman the last two years, Seager had a “down year” last year that is still better than most shortstops and Lux is the future.

The idea is that the Dodgers would move Turner to first, Muncy to second and have Lux as the bench bat? I really do not know and I doubt that the Dodgers would waste Lux’s talents on the bench or send him back to triple-A.

The Dodgers do need a long-term option at third as Turner’s contract is up after this season, which does strengthen the case of the Dodgers simply adding Rendon, figuring it out this year and then having an easier system next season.

However, if anything is going to lead to the Dodgers not signing Rendon, it is going to be the depth of the infield.
