The arrival of Corey Seager to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2016 signaled the emergence of the Dodgers farm system as a real building block to future success. Seager was drafted 18th overall in 2012 and was good enough to make the playoff roster after being called up in September of 2015.
In his first full season with the team, Seager was the everyday starter at shortstop from Opening Day. During the 2016 season, Seager was named the Rookie of the Month for June, made the All-Star Game, and became the youngest Dodger with a postseason home run when he hit one the first inning of Game 1 of the NLDS.
That off-season Seager won a Silver Slugger just the third rookie Dodger to be awarded and he was voted the 2016 NL Rookie of the Year the first Dodger to win the award in 20 years. Seager broke two Dodgers rookie records hitting 40 doubles and accumulating 193 hits.
Due to injuries, Seager has not reached the same heights of his rookie year.
