2. Zack Greinke Signs Winter 2012
The Los Angeles Dodgers had the best pitcher in baseball in the form of Clayton Kershaw and in the winter of 2012 they went out and signed another elite arm and all of a sudden they boasted one of the best righty-lefty combos since Drysdale and Koufax worked the Dodger Stadium mound.
Zack Greinke pitched three years for the Dodgers, posting a 51-15 record with a 2.30 ERA, easily the best three years of his career. Greinke was a two-time All-Star, two time Gold Glove Winner, and posted good numbers in the postseason, throwing 41 2/3 innings over six starts striking out 41 batters.
Greinke’s best season in a Dodgers uniform was his last in 2015 when he posted a 19-3 record, was the starting pitcher in the All-Star Game, and led baseball with a 1.66 ERA, the second-lowest in franchise history. Greinke ended up second in the Cy Young voting race (He should have won!).
Unfortunately, Greinke opted out of his contract that off-season and signed a division rival, the Arizona Diamondbacks.
