Los Angeles Dodgers: Three different trade ideas for Mookie Betts
By Jason Reed
There is a chance that the Los Angeles Dodgers make a blockbuster trade for Mookie Betts and can take various different avenues to make it happen.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have not done much thus far this season. The team has made one signing, which was a great one in Blake Treinen, and were in on the Gerrit Cole sweepstakes and were simply outbid by the New York Yankees.
Aside from that, it has been rather quiet for the Dodgers. Different reports have emerged on who the team was targeting, ranging from Madison Bumgarner and Hyun-Jin Ryu to Francisco Lindor, none of which has culminated in anything.
The one thing that we have learned about the Dodgers in the last several years is that they work in silence. While the reports have been focused elsewhere, the Dodgers may have been pulling something over our heads the entire time.
That something finally emerged on Tuesday when Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY reported that the Dodgers are in trade discussions for Mookie Betts, shifting the focus over from Francisco Lindor.
Personally, I could not be any more thrilled about this than I am. While Lindor is a fun player, I would much rather have Betts, even if his contract expires after this season, for the player he is and the fit he would be in LA.
There has been more speculation on who the Dodgers could trade and who else they could get in return. There really are multiple avenues that are available for the Dodgers in trading for Betts, which is what makes it so perfect. They can accomplish this in a multitude of ways.
Here are the three most likely ways, along with the package that would be sent, that we can see happening if the Dodgers do end up trading for Betts.
