Los Angeles Lakers: Way-too-early look at who the Lakers could trade
Rajon Rondo
Unfortunately for Rajon Rondo, his skill set just does not add up for this team’s style of play.
Rondo has had a decent season so far, except for the fact that he missed a slew of games during an injury. He may be shooting better from the three but that still does not make him an appropriate option to be shooting the ball.
With him sharing the court with LeBron James, he isn’t as useful as he would be with the bench players. Rondo is still the pass-first guard he has always been and It just does not work with LeBron on the court at the same time; which weirdly seems to be the person he shares the court with a lot of the time.
Not to mention he really isn’t an offensive or defensive standout for the team. That’s just how good the Lakers have been this season.
Now this isn’t to say that Rondo hasn’t been solid this season. He has, it just seems every-time Rondo takes court it convolutes the game more for the team. I can definitely see the front office looking to trade Rondo for a player who would fit the duo of LeBron and Anthony Davis more.
I could also see the team keeping Rondo, as he still is an experienced vet and can lead bench players as good as anyone in the league. But, if the team wanted a better fit, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Lakers ended up trading Rondo at the deadline.
