The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly engaged in trade discussions with the Boston Red Sox, which could lead to David Price becoming a Dodger.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have not yet made any moves — outside of signing Blake Treinen — this offseason. For a team with a massive market and plenty of room under the luxury tax threshold, this could simply be the team setting up for something big.

Well, that is what fans are hoping for. The Dodgers missed out on Gerrit Cole because the Yankees offered more (although less per year) and Cole wanted to be a Yankee. The team missed out on Anthony Rendon because he didn’t want a Hollywood lifestyle and missed out on Stephen Strasburg because he wanted to stay in Washington.

None of these are necessarily the Dodgers’ fault, but it can be saddening and the Dodgers are naturally going to get a ton of backlash for it.

However, the possibility of a massive move is still alive and well as Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported that the Dodgers were embroiled in trade discussions with the Boston Red Sox for Mookie Betts.

While Betts it the primary focus, David Price has also been included in the conversation as the Red Sox, who are over the luxury tax threshold, should want to free up Price’s contract.

The hefty salary and the fact that Price is no longer in his prime will scare a lot of Dodger fans away, and at first, it scared me away as well. However, upon looking at it in a different lens, it actually is pretty clear that Price would be a good addition to the Dodgers, contract and all.

It likely would take a three-team trade where the other party pays some of Price’s contract in return for assets from the Dodgers, but here are the three reasons why Price is a good fit.
