2. Forward Anze Kopitar

Anze Kopitar is the current team captain over the last decade he has been the best skater to put on the Kings’ uniform. He was the team leader in goals (233), assists (451), and points (684) for the decade the leader by wide margins.

Over the decade Kopitar played in three all-star games, became the first Kings player to win the Selke Award as the best defensive forward in the league and then won it again before finishing second and third in two other years.

Most importantly Kopitar was a main cog in the Kings playoff success. In 2011 Kopitar missed the Kings playoffs with a broken foot and not surprisingly they were out after just six games. But in 2012 Kopitar led the league in playoff scoring with 20 points and scored the game-winning goal in overtime in Game One of the Stanley Cup Final.

In 2014 Kopitar again led all playoff players with 26 points as the Kings raised their second Stanley Cup. During the 2017-18 season, Kopitar had the best offensive season for a Kings skater since Wayne Gretzky in 1994. He set career highs in goals (35), assists (57), and points (92) leading to being named a finalist for the Hart Trophy as league MVP.

Kopitar was an out and out superstar for the Kings the last decade but falls just short for this writer to be number one.
