1. Kenta Maeda

I am a huge fan of Kenta Maeda and I really do not want to see him get traded and I don’t think that he will get traded any time in the immediate future. However, Maeda is unhappy with his role with the Dodgers and absolutely could try and leverage his way out of Los Angeles.

The issue is that Maeda is on a heavy incentive-based contract that is based upon the premise of him being a starting pitcher. However, since he is so good in the bullpen, the Dodgers have moved him to the bullpen late in the season to get ready for the postseason.

As a result, Maeda is not getting the incentives that he otherwise would have and the two sides have been unable to come to an agreement on any form on contract restructuring to make up for this loss of innings pitched.

Maeda has not had any significant injuries since coming to the Dodgers in 2016 and while he certainly is not elite, he has been nothing but consistent for the Dodgers.

With so much starting pitching depth, there is a chance that the young guns in the Dodgers’ rotation get going and Maeda once again gets relegated to the bullpen.

That is not where Maeda wants to be and probably is not where he should be. He definitely would benefit from being on a team that will send him out to start every five days with no questions asked.
