LA Lakers: 3 realistic trade targets
Robert Covington, a good role player who would fit well with the defensive minded Lakers.
I don’t love the idea of trading for Robert Covington, but, for the right price it could pay off for the Lakers. Covington would be a slight upgrade and addition to the team.
The Lakers if they landed Covington would also probably either decide to move him to the shooting guard position so he can start, or, simply leave him as his true position at the small forward on the bench.
It would help the Lakers a lot defensively and offensively if Covington did come off of the bench. Adding a lot more depth, with the threat of Covington’s additional offense. This is probably a very realistic option for the Lakers trade wise.
I wouldn’t be too surprised if the Lakers actually did leave the trade deadline with Covington on the team. He isn’t a high price target and would still improve the team in all the right ways.
