The LA Lakers are having a great year, but LeBron James doesn’t want to shoot. That is a gigantic problem.

At the start of the season LeBron James was playing his game. Not worrying about stats or assists. He was the LeBron who shot when he saw it fit, while also trying to feed Anthony Davis in the process.

Still, LeBron managed to shoot more at the start of the season. Or, at least since then, it has felt that way. Now for some odd reason LeBron is playing like a point guard who can’t shoot, ala Rajan Rondo.

I couldn’t tell you why. Maybe he’s hurt and hiding it or maybe he isn’t confident in his shot right now, I simply do not know. The last game against the Celtics was a hurtful one to watch. While forcing myself to watch it through, I saw the forefront of LeBron’s mistakes in-game. Shooting was the most noticeable throughout the blowout.

Time and time again LeBron was left with more than enough space to launch from the three-point line. For some reason he didn’t. Along with being open, there were also multiple times players disrespected his shot and went under the screens and still, LeBron didn’t shoot.

LeBron right now is averaging 6.1 attempts from the three this season while only averaging 2.1 made from three. A very disappointing stat from one of the greatest to play the game. I know. Three-point shooting isn’t his specialty, but at this point in his career he is going to have step up and start to integrate it into his game.

Next. What move should the Lakers make before the trade deadline?. dark

LeBron needs to realize the glaring problem that happens to be his lack of shooting is only going to cause problems for the team. It’s a skill he is going to have get better at faster than he would want to. But with all the trainers and his teammates at his disposal, it isn’t that out of reach for the 17th season LeBron James who’ll always find a way to persist in the league.
