2. The Los Angeles Lakers pursuing guards could be a sign

There are two notable names that emerged in the Lakers rumors on Tuesday as it was reported that the Lakers made trade calls on both Dennis Schroder and Spencer Dinwiddie. Either playmaking guard would be a welcomed addition to the Los Angeles Lakers and would be a better fit than Kyle Kuzma.

The Lakers are heavy on guards though and the fact that the team is shopping guards could imply that they are willing to move on from Green so long that they can get a guard to fill in with the backcourt.

Again, the contracts come into play yet again. Neither of these trades is even possible unless the Lakers throw another contract in like Green’s.

Just a guard alone probably is not enough and the Lakers would have to get more in return. Whether that be a cheap defensive option to make up for the loss of Green, another shooter or draft capital, trading Kuzma and Green for one guard would not make sense.

However, just the fact that the team is looking at guards (among other options) is an interesting sign that the Lakers might be okay with parting ways with Green.
