The Los Angeles Lakers ended up being inactive at the trade deadline and now the next improvements to look forward to are potential buyout options.

The Los Angeles Lakers did not do what nearly every single LeBron James-led team does at the NBA Trade Deadline — make a trade. That perfect trade did not present itself to the front office and the team is moving forward with the same group of guys that started the season.

There are some potential additions that could be coming soon via free agency. Darren Collision, who announced an abrupt retirement prior to the season, appears ready to come back into the fold and the Los Angeles Lakers look like the most likely destination for the veteran point guard.

The team is also going to reportedly work out veteran J.R. Smith, who is a former teammate of LeBron James, although Smith might not be much of an addition to this team.

The other way that the Lakers can make improvements to the roster is via buyouts, which happen every year. Players on expiring contracts get their contracts bought out, paving the way for them to sign with a contending team.

The most likely reason why this happens so frequently is that teams want to get on the good side of certain agents, so there undoubtedly will be some buyout candidates to watch for as the season progresses.

Here are the three buyout candidates that I would pay the most attention to.
