These are not the most flashy picks in the world for the Los Angeles Chargers to make, but one round after improving the interior line with Cesar Ruiz, the Chargers should look to improve the exterior of the line with Matt Peart.

After the third round, the Chargers likely are not going to find any true difference-makers on the offensive line. Peart is someone who could absolutely compete for a starting job, and before getting into any more skill positions, the Chargers should select him while they can.

Walter Football ranks Peart as the 10th-best offensive tackle in the 2020 NFL Draft, even going as far as to say that he would be an absolute steal in the third round of the draft.

In a crowded offensive line, Peart might be a backup for a year or two before getting the starting role with proper coaching. On the Chargers, he could compete for the starting job right away and with that experience and those reps could be a huge improvement for the team at right tackle.

He also provides a depth option for Russell Okung at left tackle, which is much-needed. The story of the Chargers’ 2019 season was turnovers that were forced by a bad offensive line without depth. These two picks help solve that.
