2. S Nasir Adderley

The Los Angeles Rams could use more safety depth heading into the 2020 season with Eric Weddle announcing his retirement earlier in the offseason. And while the Chargers would theoretically be open to trading Mebane because of youth behind him, the Chargers could be open to trading a young player because of the others around him.

The Chargers (surprisingly) took Nasir Adderley in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. It is not that Adderley was not worth a second-round pick, as he was a second-round talent, but it was interesting considering the team has one of the best one-two punches at safety in Derwin James and Adrian Phillips.

Both James and Phillips got hurt last season, which seemingly opened the door for Adderley to make an impact in his rookie year. He was also hurt, played in only four games and accounted for 10 total defensive snaps.

If you go back and watch Adderley’s tape you will see a ball-hawking safety who would be a perfect complement to John Johnson and Taylor Rapp and could be an impact coverage safety in nickel and dime packages.

As for the Chargers, they still have James and Phillips ahead of Adderley and even have other backups that excelled. Rayshawn Jenkins played really good while James and Phillips were banged up and Jaylen Watkins and Roderick Teamer are both good depth options.
