1. OT Jedrick Wills Jr.

If the Los Angeles Chargers forego a quarterback in the first round of the draft then the first option should be someone who can protect whoever is under center in 2020 and there would not be a better pick available than Jedrick Wills Jr.

Wills is a consensus top-10 prospect in the NFL Draft as well as the consensus best offensive tackle available in the draft. Most mock drafts see Wills going as high as fourth and as low as 10th, so the Chargers snagging him with the sixth-overall pick would be right on cue with his talent.

The Chargers would have two teams to worry about ahead of them that could draft Wills. We are assuming that two teams ahead of them will select a quarterback and one team is inevitably going to draft Chase Young, who is the best overall prospect in the draft if not 1A with Joe Burrow.

Assuming Burrow goes first overall and Young goes second, Wills could end up going to either the New York Giants or Washington Redskins, who both could use help at offensive tackle.

However, if both teams pass on Wills and the decision is between Wills and Justin Herbert, I would not hate it if the Chargers shored up the offensive line with Wills, as unpopular as offensive line selections are.
