2. LB Isaiah Simmons

A consensus top-five prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft, Isaiah Simmons would be a very fun selection if the Los Angeles Chargers wanted to double-down on the defensive side of the ball and get a good enough quarterback that can protect the ball and allow the defense to win games.

Offensive tackle is a bigger need than linebacker but if Simmons is still available with the sixth-overall pick then chances are that Wills will be off the board, so the Chargers would not have to make the decision anyway.

Simmons is a dynamic linebacker that could quite literally play anywhere on the field, which is something that we know the Los Angeles Chargers appreciate on the defensive side of the ball.

Derwin James and Adrian Phillips are similar dynamic defenders that are currently on the Chargers and Simmons would give the team three versatile defenders that they could throw at other teams in so many different ways.

In fact, Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports went as far as to compare Simmons to Derwin James in his latest mock draft, stating “Simmons can line up just about anywhere on defense and his versatility reminds us of Derwin James.”

He would make the Chargers better against the pass, better against the run and better defensively as a unit. It might not be a quarterback but it is a damn-fun prospect to have.

Next. Tyrod Taylor is not a starting-caliber quarterback. dark

Aside from Wills and Simmons, the Los Angeles Chargers would be absolutely foolish to draft someone else over a quarterback, even if they do not fully love Justin Herbert.
