The Los Angeles Clippers’ biggest concerns during the path to the Finals
By Jason Reed
1. How the team will gel when fully put together
As previously mentioned, the Los Angeles Clippers have rarely been at full strength this season. And while that has created quite the argument for Clipper fans making their case, it is a potential double-edged sword that could cause some shakiness during the playoffs.
Theoretically, when the Clippers are at full strength there should be no problems. However, being a basketball fan, we all know that these guys are human and that is not always the case. Not playing 60+ with your two stars on the court at the same time could come back to bite in some capacity.
When we get into the playoffs we are really splitting hairs and if there are two teams that are similarly talented and one has played 70 games as a unit and the other has only played 30 then it absolutely could make a difference.
This could snowball with Paul George suffering yet another hamstring injury in the team’s final game of the first half against the Boston Celtics. If George misses 10 games with the injury, mixed with Kawhi’s load management, it is only going to make it harder to get in a rhythm as a cohesive unit.
We have seen it from George, in particular, this season. There have been games where he looks absolutely awesome and there are games with Leonard where he does not look like a second star. We all know the narrative that surrounds him in the postseason, which could make matter worse.
