2. The Clippers’ record against other playoff teams and on the road

To be completely honest, the exact number of wins that the Los Angeles Clippers have in the 2020 season won’t really matter as long as the team as one of the top seeds in the West. It could make a difference if they are the third-seeded team and have to play the second-seeded team in the second round, but that is about it.

However, that does not mean that we should completely ignore the Clippers’ win and loss record and there are some concerning numbers in games that could be indicative of the playoffs. Most notably, the Clippers are not that great on the road with a 15-13 road record and have not been overly impressive against other playoff teams.

The Clippers are 0-4 on the road against the top-six teams in the Western Conference, not including the Los Angeles Lakers (because that is not really a road game). Overall, the Clippers are 5-6 against the top-six, with two of the wins coming against the Lakers.

The one counterpoint is, yet again, that the Clippers have not been at full strength for most of the year, which is true. However, the Clippers are still just 2-2 against the top-six in the Western Conference with both stars. Why is this important? This is who they have to play before the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

Granted, things are different in the playoffs and I would be doing a disservice to ignore that. However, for a team that has been resting guys and has not been completely together, it is concerning to think about how they might perform in a seven-game war against a team like the Houston Rockets where there is no time to rest and they bouncing between cities.
