Los Angeles Lakers: Making the case for Tristan Thompson if bought out
By Jason Reed
There is no reason for the Cleveland Cavaliers to not buy out Tristan Thompson, which could open the door for him to join the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers are players on the buyout market as the team looks to make any improvements that it can as it heads into the playoffs. Thus far, the Lakers have not made any moves and it does not seem like a matter of if, but when.
One name that is not currently on the buyout market but could be very soon is Tristan Thompson. Thompson in the last season of his contract, which is paying him $18.5 million for a woeful Cleveland Cavaliers team.
There really is no reason for the Cavaliers to not buyout Thompson. The ship to trade him has sailed and the Cavaliers could save a few million dollars and do a favor for a key player that helped them win an NBA Championship.
The only real reason for the Cavaliers to not buyout Thompson would simply be pettiness towards Rich Paul and Klutch Sports Group for how LeBron left the franchise after spurning it for Los Angeles.
If the Cavaliers do the smart thing and buy out Thompson then the Los Angeles Lakers would instantly be the first team mentioned. However, more than other buyout signings, there are compelling reasons for and against bringing in Thompson.
As we attempt to make the case for whether or not the Lakers should sign Thompson we will bring you, the reader, those reasons for and against it.
