Los Angeles Chargers: Mock Draft with Teddy Bridgewater signing
By Jason Reed
3.21. Bryan Edwards, WR
Bryan Edwards is a prospect that could have went as high as the mid-second round if he had a really impressive showing at the NFL Combine and made a team fall in love with him. However, a broken foot has rendered Edwards inactive for the Combine, which hurts his draft stock and makes him a third-round option.
That is great for the Chargers, who could select their replacement for Travis Benjamin with the team’s fourth selection in the draft and select someone who could arguably be better than Benjamin right away.
His foot is not a concern as he is set to return around May, three months before OTAs even start for the 2020 season. Edwards stats are extremely excited as, like Brooks, he was a productive four-year starter in his collegiate career.
Edwards missed three games in 2019 but still finished with 816 receiving yards on 71 receptions in 10 games. He finished with six touchdowns.
This selection was between Edwards and fellow wide receiver Gabriel Davis, who did have a more impressive senior season. However, Davis is more of a deep threat wideout and does not have the acceleration or quickness to play inside in the slot, as Edwards can.
The Chargers already have their vertical threat in Mike Williams and Davis would just be a redundant addition. Edwards, on the other hand, is an exciting slot receiver prospect for the Chargers.
