Most of the players that are worth trading for in this series are players that are in the last season of their contract with their specific teams. This makes players more likely to be dealt as the team trading the players would be trading one season of a player that provides depth for a draft pick.

That is not the case with Thomas as he has two more years left under contract but if offered the right price, it is very easy to see the Browns parting ways with Thomas and using the 2020 NFL Draft as a way to pick up depth.

Thomas is the third-best defensive end on the Cleveland Browns behind Myles Garrett and Olivier Vernon. Garrett should be back in commission next season and Vernon is overpaid and on the last year of his contract but is a crucial component to the Browns’ defensive line.

The team needs to add depth to the position group anyways and likely will spend a mid-round pick on adding a long-term option. The Rams, wanting someone who can contribute right away and not someone that the team can build up for a season, would likely be willing to part ways with a fourth and future seventh-round pick for Thomas.

That is a great return for a player that the Browns selected in the third round that is not even starting. When he did start with Garrett out, though, he played well, recording four sacks and six tackles for loss last season.

He would be the starting replacement for Dante Fowler Jr. on the edge and would benefit from being on the Rams, as rushing the quarterback alongside Aaron Donald opens a lot of doors.
