Los Angeles Lakers: Anthony Davis has a sneaky case for MVP
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference and it is Anthony Davis, not LeBron James, that deserves MVP praise.
For the first time since the team’s last championship under Kobe Bryant‘s guidance, the Los Angeles Lakers are dominating in the regular season and have a great chance of making the NBA Championship and winning it all.
This return to the way things used to be was a long time coming for Laker fans, who endured the worst stretch in franchise history, missing the playoffs six seasons in a row, which was more than the franchise had in its history from the 1948 to 2012 season.
This return to grace was a two-year process. First, LeBron James signed a four-year deal with the Lakers in the summer of 2018, starting what many believed would be a quick process to two superstars and contention once more.
It took a year longer than fans had hoped for but it finally happened — the Los Angeles Lakers traded Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and three first-round picks for New Orleans superstar, Anthony Davis.
The results have been nothing but positive as the duo of LeBron and Davis is the best in the league. Because of the team’s success, and his age, LeBron James has received a lot of love in terms of MVP talk.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is the favorite to win the MVP for a second straight season but fans have been making the case for LeBron, with the main case being that he is far exceeding what he should be doing at 35 years old.
That definitely is impressive, but this has taken some credit from Anthony Davis, who when you really look at it, has a sneaky case to be named the MVP.
