The Los Angeles Dodgers enter the 2020 season as the favorites to win the National League Pennant, but could the NL West give the team any problems?

The Los Angeles Dodgers set a franchise record in wins (106) in 2019 and still somehow got better this offseason without sacrificing the farm system. The Dodgers added a top-five player in the league, among other additions, and are locked and loaded heading into 2020.

The Dodgers were already the favorites to win the National League Pennant before trading for Mookie Betts with the Betts trade cementing the Dodgers’ status. Now, the Dodgers look like one of the deepest teams of all time.

The games still have to be played, though, and anything can truly happen. Heck, maybe a team in the National League West will surprise the Dodgers.

Here is how we see the NL West shaping up this season, full of record predictions and all.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers

  • 2019 record: 106-56
  • 2020 projected record: 103-59

Yeah, there is no way that the Los Angeles Dodgers are going to not win the team’s eighth-consecutive National League West title. It would take a significant number of injuries for this to even be plausible and the sheer amount of injuries it would take makes it unlikely.

The Dodgers are deep, plan and simple. Could they get banged up, underperform and not reach 100 wins? Absolutely, that is not part of the guarantee. However, it is extremely hard to see the Dodgers winning anything fewer than 95 games this season with all of the talent on the roster.

They are extremely deep in pitching, have a terrifying lineup and still have players in AAA that are ready to come up and make an impact when needed. If the Dodgers don’t win the division then I will renounce my fanhood.
