Los Angeles Rams need more than the 2020 NFL Draft to improve O-line
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Rams’ biggest problem this offseason is the offensive line and fans are hoping it can be solved in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Los Angeles Rams do not have many holes on the roster but the holes that the team does have are fairly big ones. There is no hole in the depth chart larger than the offensive line, with the future direction of the franchise relying on how the front office can patch the line up.
The main reason for this is Jared Goff. While Goff oftentimes gets unfair criticism and actually has been a lot better than his detractors give him credit for, he is definitely susceptible to disappointing behind a bad offensive line.
There are very few quarterbacks that have the dynamic skill set needed to thrive despite the offensive line, Goff is not one of them.
The Rams absolutely have a talented enough team to not only return to the playoffs but return to the Super Bowl. The front office just has to do its due diligence of patching up the holes.
With very little salary cap space and no pick in the first round, the hope is that the Rams could help bolster the offensive line with a second-round pick. And while it would not be a bad thing to help improve the line in the second round, unfortunately for the Rams, they simply cannot rely on that method of acquisition to improve the team’s woes.
There are two particular reasons for why this is the case and why the Rams might have to spend the little bit of money that they have, or why a trade might need to be made.
