The entire world’s landscape is changing right now, which includes the sports world, making an impact on the LA sports scene.

Here in LA, fans are big on sports, whether it’s the teams based here or teams somewhere else. The cancellation or suspending of the season hits LA sports fans really hard here, and most people won’t know what to do about it.

The NBA announced it is suspending its season indefinitely, which means the West’s No. 1 seed Lakers and the No. 2 seed Clippers won’t be playing the roughly 20 games remaining in the season, for now.

The Clippers were hoping to catch the Lakers, and the lower seeds were hoping to climb higher or actually get into the playoffs.

Initially, it was about playing without any fans in attendance, until Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus and it was announced Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell tested positive as well. They are hoping to push it back some time, but that could get in the way of the WNBA season.

It’s getting bad.

The NCAA initially announced the tournaments will be played without fans but the Pac-12 announced they are canceling their tournament for men and women’s basketball.

The Pac-12’s No. 2 seed UCLA men’s team and No. 3 seed USC men’s team won’t have a chance at the Pac-12 Championship now. The No. 10-ranked UCLA women’s team, No. 3 in Pac-12, are also fighting for a chance at the women’s conference title.

The NHL is suspending its season but is hoping to resume it at a later date. The Anaheim Ducks and LA Kings are about 70 games into the season, but they are in the bottom three of the Western Conference with a 29-33 record for the Ducks and 29-35 record for the Kings.

The MLS has announced it is suspending its season. LAFC and the LA Galaxy, both playoff teams last season, were looking to contend for a title this year, but that might not happen.

Each team has played two games — LAFC with one win and one draw and Galaxy with one draw and one loss. LAFC was the No. 1 ranked team in the West and the Galaxy were No. 5. LAFC beat the Galaxy in the quarterfinals last season and LAFC lost to the eventual MLS champions in the semifinals.

The MLB had a conference call and will likely suspend the remaining games of Spring Training and are delaying the start of the season. They were talking about playing without any spectators in the stands, but the players are at risk in the clubhouse.

The Dodgers and Angels have some big additions on their respective teams and they are looking to contend for a chance at a World Series championship. For the Dodgers, the clock is ticking because their new acquisition Mookie Betts has a contract expiring at the end of the season.

The WNBA isn’t currently in season but they released a statement saying they are working with professionals to see how to proceed with things at this time. The next major event for them is the draft on April 17, with the start of training camp coming on April 26 and the start of the season on May 15. The LA Sparks were the No. 3 seed last season but got swept in the semifinals.

The NFL hasn’t made any immediate actions due to the virus, but the NFL draft on April 23-25 could be in jeopardy. Multiple teams suspended their pro day travels and a lot of employees are being asked to work from home.

An update will come soon if they want to stay on top of things. The Chargers and the Rams both missed the playoffs last season and are hoping to add to their teams and try to contend for a championship.

The XFL has been very quiet lately, and it’s uncertain if they are going to continue playing amidst the virus going around. The season is going into Week 6 this weekend, and the LA Wildcats are 2-3 so far.

This is a very serious issue, and we get it, but it’s going to be even harder to deal with if we don’t have any LA sports to watch.
