Los Angeles Rams: The five-best second-round picks of the last 10 years
By Jason Reed
3. Rob Havenstein, 2015
Rob Havenstein has the fewest games played of the five players that are ranked but still gets the honors of third place in this ranking. Havenstein is a crucial part of an offensive line that led the Rams to be successful in McVay’s first two seasons and will be a crucial component moving forward.
Havenstein was hurt last season and only appeared in seven games, which was a huge part of the reason why the Rams’ offensive line was as bad as it was. As long as Havenstein stays healthy in 2020, and the Rams either re-sign Andrew Whitworth or bring in a second-round left tackle, then the offensive line certainly won’t be as bad.
Havenstein was average in his first two seasons in the league and then he really started to show some great signs in year three, which was the first year under Sean McVay. That culminated in the 2018 season, which was Havenstein’s best year.
He arguably should have been a Pro Bowler in 2018, but that is neither here nor there. He would not have gotten the chance to play anyway.
If Havenstein can stay healthy and continues to produce at the rate he has produced at then he absolutely will become the Rams’ best second-round pick of the 2020s. He is the only person on this list still with the team and is signed for another three seasons.
