Los Angeles Rams: Ranking the last six first-round picks
By Jason Reed
4. Alec Ogletree, 2013
Alec Ogletree might only be ranked one spot above Tavon Austin, who was selected 22 picks ahead of him, but Ogletree’s impact on the Los Angeles Rams was exponentially higher than Austin’s.
The only drawback is that Ogletree is no longer on the Rams, however, the team may have dodged a bullet as he declined slightly with the New York Giants and was eventually released by the team this offseason.
Ogletree was a very consistent part of the Rams defense for five seasons and he had several Pro Bowl-caliber seasons but never got the nod that he deserved. His best season came in the Rams’ first season in LA, in which he tallied 136 combined tackles, two interceptions and nine tackles for loss.
Ogletree tallied over 100 tackles in three of his five seasons with the Rams and was well on pace to do so in 2015 as well but he only played four games. Even in his last season, in which he did not hit 100 tackles, he still finished the season with 95.
If Ogletree would have been on a better team with a more prominent offense then he would have gotten the love he deserved. Heck, if he was playing how he was from 2014-2016 the last three seasons with the Rams then he undoubtedly would have gotten the attention he deserves.
