Rams Rumors: Why fans should be accepting of a Todd Gurley trade
By Jason Reed
The latest Los Angeles Rams rumors indicate that star running back, Todd Gurley, could be traded in a move that should be more popular among fans than it will be.
Midway through the 2018 season, the Los Angeles Rams appeared to have the best running back in football. Gurley was carving through opposing defenses, was seemingly on pace to have an MVP-caliber season and after a solid 2017, was cementing himself as the best running back in football.
That did not last long.
Injuries kept him out at the end of the season and even in the playoffs the Rams hardly used Gurley, the offense looked vastly different as a result. Gurley played all of 2020 but was on a careful workload because of his knee problems, the Rams wanted to save him for the playoffs.
Now, while his talent is still undeniable, Gurley has taken the back seat to Christian McCaffrey as the best running back in football. Gurley did not even enjoy the title for an entire season.
The latest Rams rumors are now indicating that the Rams could be willing to move on from the star running back via trade. Michael Silver of NFL Network reported on Monday that Gurley’s name was coming up in trade talks and that the team could be ready to move on.
But why? We saw how the offense was not as efficient without Gurley at full strength, so why would the team trade him and potentially miss out on that version of Gurley?
There are several reasons why the Rams could be shopping Gurley right now. We broke them down and explain why fans should be okay and willing to part ways with Gurley.
