2. Taylor Rapp

One player that we did not mention in the opening slide of the article was Eric Weddle, who is hanging it up after one season with the Los Angeles Rams and retiring from the NFL. Weddle played all 16 games for the Rams, so the team is going to need a proper replacement.

The team drafted that replacement last season in the second round and is actually ahead of the curve, which should help. That replacement is none other than Taylor Rapp, who is going to have to step up as the team’s primary free safety in a defense that is now without Eric Weddle.

Rapp was a very smart selection by the Rams last season. He showed great signs of potential at Washington and has all the makings to be a ball-hawking starting free safety in the NFL.

Rapp actually started 10 games for the Los Angeles Rams last season and was pretty decent. He finished the season with 100 combined tackles and two interceptions, one of which being a pick-six. These are extremely positive signs for the Rams to look forward to.

I still would not be surprised to see the Rams draft a safety as John Johnson only has one more year under contract and could not stay healthy last season. Whether it be with a rookie, with Johnson, or a combination of both, Rapp is going to be extremely important to how successful the Rams’ safeties will be in 2020.
