Los Angeles Rams News: Why Brandin Cooks won’t be traded
By Jason Reed
Fans are seemingly expecting the next piece of Los Angeles Rams news to be that Brandin Cooks got traded. However, it won’t happen anytime soon.
The Los Angeles Rams put themselves in a tricky salary cap situation with the contracts that the team was handing out to its best players. Jared Goff, Aaron Donald, Brandin Cooks and Todd Gurley all got massive contracts from the team with Jalen Ramsey‘s expected to come next offseason.
We already saw some of the repercussions of this strategy as the Rams released star running back Todd Gurley to save a minimal amount of cap space this season but save even more in the long-term.
Releasing Gurley was impossible to even consider a year and a half ago. However, lingering worries about his knees simply did not make the contract worth it, proving yet again why teams don’t usually sign running backs to big deals.
The next piece of Los Angeles Rams news that fans are expecting to hear is that Brandin Cooks will be traded. Cooks is being paid like a star wideout on the Rams but last season was the team’s third-best option in the passing game. They could definitely live without Cooks.
Cooks tweeted a seemingly cryptic tweet on Friday about being freed. However, it is more likely that Cooks was talking about being freed from quarantine rather than being freed from the Rams, but who knows.

Regardless, there is some expectation that Cooks may be traded in the coming weeks, but it won’t be the case. Cooks will not be traded from the Los Angeles Rams. Here is why.
