– Saves money

As we saw with the release of Todd Gurley, the Rams are looking to save some money as they try to reshape their roster. As of now, Cooks has the third-highest salary per year on the team behind only Jared Goff and Aaron Donald.

While Goff also underachieved last season, he is a quarterback and still potentially the face of the franchise for years to come. Donald is one of the best players in the NFL and will hopefully not be going anywhere. That leaves Cooks.

As mentioned before, Cooks is easily coming off the worst season of his career. With holes on the roster, getting rid of Cooks would help save the team some money for years to come. As a wide receiver, the Rams also don’t necessarily need Cooks.

The Rams built a great offense with Cooks, Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. However, both Woods and Kupp are better than Cooks as of right now, and the offense should be fine with just two of those three. Considering Cooks is making a lot more than the other two, moving him makes sense.

Due to the shaky cap situation of the franchise, moving Cooks would help the team relive some of the poor financial decisions.
