– Edge Rusher

The defensive side of the ball was not pretty for the Rams last season, as they were torched early on in the season. At home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Rams had no answer for Jameis Winston and the Bucs, as they were upset at home.

That loss to the Bucs might have been the early indication that the Rams just weren’t that good of a team last season, as the defense struggled. One of the areas that the Rams were weak at on that side of the ball was getting to the passer.

In 2019, the Rams only had two players in double-figures for sacks, and three players over five sacks for the season. Aaron Donald led the team in sacks as expected, and Dante Fowler and Clay Matthews were the next two in the category.

Of those three, only Donald is currently on the Rams, as Fowler signed with the Atlanta Falcons, and Clay Matthews is a free agent. This is certainly a big issue for the Rams, and adding some young help on the edge would be welcomed.

Donald demands a lot of attention on the inside, so with a somewhat talented player rushing on the edge, it would make things easier for Donald to cause problems and avoid so many double teams.
