Los Angeles Chargers: 3 Reasons to sign Cam Newton

The Los Angeles Chargers have a need at the quarterback position. Here are three reasons why they should pursue am Newton.

As we get closer to the start of the 2020 NFL Draft, theLos Angeles Chargershave a glaring need at the quarterback position. This offseason, the Chargers decided that it was time to part ways withPhilip Rivers.

Rivers was their franchise quarterback for over a decade, but the Chargers didn’t have anyone in place to be the next guy. As of now, the starting quarterback for the Chargers isTyrod Taylor.

While Taylor does have a winning record as a starting quarterback in the NFL, he isn’t going to bring a title to Los Angeles. With free agents still out there, one of the players who has surprisingly not signed anywhere isCam Newton.

Newton and the Panthers parted ways this offseason, and he has still yet to find a new home. Even though it has been a tough couple of years for Newton with losing and injuries, he is still a very talented player.

With a new stadium coming, the Chargers could use a new face of the franchise. Newton certainly has the potential to be that if he is healthy.

Furthermore, the Chargers do hold the sixth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. More than likely, there will be a quarterback available to the Chargers with that pick. However, if they signed Newton, they could look to improve in other areas with that pick.

With that being said, here are three reasons why the Chargers should sign Newton.
