What Paul Would Bring To The Lakers

While even a year ago giving up all that was proposed by the Lakers would be preposterous in acquiring a player like Chris Paul. However, Paul has had a bounce back year with the Thunder and it is safe to assume that playing with good friend LeBron James would be enough to keep him playing at an elite level.

If on the team, Paul would fill the role that everyone associated with the Lakers wishes Rajon Rondo could fill. He would be a primary playmaker along with LeBron. This would be crucial because it would take a lot of the offensive responsibilities off of LeBron’s back.

On top of this, Paul is notorious for being one of the best pick and roll ball handlers in NBA history. Having the freak of nature that is Antony Davis, it would be almost impossible to stop a pick and roll between the two. On the defensive side of the ball, adding Paul would do wonders for an already elite Lakers defense.

He is a player that is notorious for being an on-ball pest and especially during the playoffs would be someone who could lock up some of the best point guards in the league. Also, if the Lakers were to get rid of Rajon Rondo and began to put a traditional point guard in the lineup with would allow for Alex Caruso to get more minutes in the rotation which could greatly improve the teams level of play.

Lastly, Paul fits the timetable and the theme of the Lakers. Many players on the team are hungry to either get a ring or rewrite their legacy. With Paul succeeding on the Lakers, this could easily take care of both. He would finally get the ring that he has spent his entire career trying to get and would finally end the stigma of him that he is a choker and cannot perform in the playoffs.
