Recent Chargers rumors are that they are eyeing former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts in the 2020 NFL Draft.

As we get closer to the 2020 NFL Draft, there have been plenty of Chargers rumors about what the team will do when they are on the clock.

Coming into the draft, the biggest area that they must address is at the quarterback position. While we know that Joe Burrow will be the first quarterback taken, things get a bit more interesting from there.

Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert appear like the next two likely to be taken off the board. If not for being injured last season and coming off hip surgery, Tua could very well have been in the discussion for being the first overall pick. Now, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding where he could land.

In the first round, the Chargers will be sitting with the sixth overall pick as of now. This gives them some possibilities, as they certainly have the firepower to move up if they deem it fit. Also, they could have a quarterback land in their lap.

Recently, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Chargers have expressed an interest in quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Seeing the Chargers interested in Hurts is certainly an interesting development. Hurts isn’t projected to be a first-round pick in the draft, but after the improvement, we have seen since he was a starter at Alabama, there is a lot of potential there.

Hurts was able to put in a lot of hard work and go from just a running quarterback to a true dual threat. Having the ability to both run and pass the ball makes it extremely hard on a defense, as we have seen with some other great quarterbacks in the league like Lamar Jackson.

If Hurts continues to improve, he could be a starting quarterback in the league within a couple of years. Compared to the others, Hurts is a little bit less polished in terms of throwing the football. However, the work ethic and improvement in college are certainly there.

While Hurts likely wouldn’t be a first-round target of the Chargers, he would be a player to keep an eye on if the Chargers don’t take a quarterback with the sixth overall pick. After a great college career, Hurts will be a prospect to keep an eye on.
