– Offensive line

While the offensive line might not be the flashiest position in the NFL, it is one of the most important. Even great quarterbacks and running backs can’t succeed without a good offensive line.

The Chargers began to address this need, as they added long-time tackle Bryan Bulaga from the Green Packers. While Bulaga will help, the rest of the offensive line was a bit of a mess for the Chargers.

In the draft, you can find some good offensive linemen in the middle rounds, and the Chargers will have to try and accomplish this. Since Bulaga has been a right tackle for most of his career, that could be a great thing if they select Tua Tagovailoa in the first round. However, very few quarterbacks are left-handed like Tua, and they will need to have their blindside protected if he is right-handed.

At times, Rivers was under a lot of pressure last season. He was sacked 34 times on the season, but the pressure resulted in him making some poor throws and decisions. Taylor is a very capable running, but if they want him to succeed as a passer, they’ll have to block for him.

Drafting offensive linemen are never the prettiest thing, but sometimes it’s the most important.
