Los Angeles Chargers: 3 Needs in the 2020 NFL Draft
By Nick Ziegler
– Wide receiver
Another need for the Chargers will be at the wide receiver position. While the Chargers do have some talented players that can catch the football, they are a bit top heavy. Last season, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams both went over 1,000 receiving yards. This is certainly a great accomplishment, but it, unfortunately, didn’t result in many wins.
At the wide receiver position, the next highest guy in receiving yards was Dontrelle Inman at just 132 receiving yards. Now, the Chargers do have Hunter Henry and Austin Ekeler who are strong in the passing game, but they could use another wide receiver to help in 3-wide receiver sets.
Whether it is Taylor at quarterback or a young rookie, the Chargers need to make sure that they have the weapons necessary to succeed. Having two wide receivers capable of totaling 1,000 yards is great, but you need depth as well.
This is a very deep wide receiver class, and the Chargers could address this need after the first round and get a player ready to produce right away. As the league continues to trend more toward passing the football, having three good wide receivers is important for a team. As of now, the Chargers don’t have that.
