Los Angeles Chargers: 3 Needs in the 2020 NFL Draft
By Nick Ziegler
– Quarterback
The biggest need for the Chargers is going to be at the quarterback position. Even though they just let Philip Rivers go, he was a staple of the franchise for years and a really good quarterback in the league for a long time.
More than likely, the Chargers will be using their first-round pick to address this need. With the sixth overall pick, the Chargers will have some options. They could sit at No.6 a see what quarterback falls to them, or they could look to move up past the Miami Dolphins to get their pick of the best available after Joe Burrow is taken.
The Chargers’ decision will likely come down to either Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert in the early part of the first round. If the Chargers decide that they don’t like either, they might look to move down and select a guy like Jordan Love.
The Chargers will have some options when it comes to when they want to select a quarterback, but likely the early the better. With the draft quickly approaching, the quarterback position will be the most important for the Chargers to address. While Tyrod Taylor might be a good stop-gap, he isn’t going to be the guy long-term.
