– Will need to be paid soon

One of the concerns when it comes to Kyle Kuzma is the fact that the Lakers or someone else is going to have to pay him soon. If we were going off his first two seasons in Los Angeles, it would seem like a no-brainer to pay Kuzma. However, his third season in Los Angeles and his first with All-Stars on the team has not gone well.

With the Lakers exercising his option for the 2020-21 season, Kuzma will be making about $3.5 million next season. This is certainly a low number, but one that could result in him looking to get paid when he is eligible for free agency after the season.

Since Kuzma has shown glimpses, a team might be willing to take a chance on him and overpay a bit. This would put the Lakers in a tricky spot as of now, as there are certainly some concerns with his game.

For Kuzma, while he might be worthy of making a good amount of money on his next deal, the Lakers also might elect to bypass paying him in favor of pursuing a third star. Since Kuzma has been very inconsistent in his third season, nobody would blame the Lakers as of now for trying to create a Big 3 with James and Davis.
